U.S. Marine helicopters getting upgrade to share battlefield data faster
The U.S. Navy has raised the ceiling of an existing Northrop Grumman agreement by $34.4 million to support additional Link 16 kits for Marine Corps UH-1Y Venom and AH-1Z Viper helicopters. The planned order covers eight UH-1Y kits, nine AH-1Z kits, and 17 common B-kits, with delivery expected by March 2027. The modification authorizes future orders rather than an immediate $34.4 million obligation, allowing the aircraft to exchange encrypted targeting and position data automatically with other joint platforms.
