NATO drills new layered air defence over Romania
NATO conducted a multinational integrated air-and-missile-defense exercise over Romania as it shifts beyond traditional air policing toward protection against aircraft, drones, cruise missiles and ballistic missiles. French Rafales joined Romanian, Greek and Turkish F-16s and Spanish F/A-18s, supported by Spanish A400M and Turkish KC-135 tankers. The scenario linked sensors, command and control, fighters and ground forces in opposing teams, testing how allied assets can share information and sustain a layered defense of the eastern flank under complex conditions.
