U.S., Japan and Australia Build More Integrated Long-Range Fires Capability in Orient Shield 26
U.S., Japanese and Australian forces used Orient Shield 26 to build a more integrated long-range-fires network across multiple locations in Japan. The exercise combined field maneuver, command and control, sustainment and live firing by systems including HIMARS with guided rockets, allowing partners to practice passing targeting information and coordinating effects at operationally relevant distances. Rehearsing multinational fires in a dispersed, contested environment improves interoperability and demonstrates that allied launchers, sensors and headquarters can operate as a combined formation rather than as separate national contingents.
