First Pilatus PC-21 trainers for Canada depart Switzerland to prepare future fighter pilots
The first Pilatus PC-21 trainers built for Canada have departed Switzerland, beginning delivery activity for the Royal Canadian Air Force's redesigned pilot-training system. Canada will designate the aircraft CT-157 Siskin II and use them for advanced instruction, providing modern avionics and performance that better prepare students for contemporary frontline aircraft. The departure marks a tangible program milestone rather than full operational readiness; the fleet must still be delivered, accepted, supported, and integrated with simulators, instructors, courseware, and the wider training pipeline before it produces qualified fighter pilots.
