Northrop Grumman says anti-jam PGK E5 enters production to maintain U.S. Army 155 mm artillery accuracy in GPS-degraded environments
Northrop Grumman has moved the PGK E5 precision guidance kit into production for US Army 155 mm artillery ammunition. The screw-in fuze and guidance assembly is designed to correct projectile flight and preserve accuracy when satellite-navigation signals are jammed, degraded or unavailable, improving conventional-shell effectiveness without replacing the gun or complete ammunition stock. Production marks progress beyond development testing, although disclosed information does not establish the number of kits, delivery rate or fielding units; operational performance will also depend on ammunition compatibility, fire-control integration and the severity of the electronic-warfare environment.
