U.S. Marine Corps wants AI to spot aircraft failures early
The U.S. Marine Corps selected SteerBridge Strategies to develop artificial-intelligence tools for aviation logistics, predictive maintenance and operational planning after a 34-day evaluation process. The planned prototype would use maintenance and supply data to identify likely component failures earlier, improve parts positioning and support data-driven readiness decisions across Marine aviation. The service has already explored predictive analytics on platforms including the KC-130J and intends to expand similar methods through a prototype agreement. The selection is not yet a final contract award: value, schedule and aircraft coverage will depend on completion of the statement of work and subsequent agreement.
