Royal Australian Air Force F-35As have deployed to New Zealand for the first time, demonstrating an overseas rearming and refuelling capability supported by C-130J logistics aircraft, according to Defence Industry Europe. The deployment marks the first time Australian fifth-generation aircraft have operated from a New Zealand base and validates the combined RAAF-RNZAF ability to sustain F-35A operations at allied locations with organic logistic support.
