U.S. Air Force wants to test robotic boom control on old KC-135 tanker
The US Air Force plans to test robotic boom control on a KC-135 tanker. The effort examines automation of the aerial-refuelling boom function. Autonomous or assisted boom control could reduce operator workload and improve tanker availability. The trial supports wider Air Force interest in autonomous refuelling technologies.
