Belfast yard installs new cranes for support ship build
Harland & Wolff's Belfast shipyard has installed eleven new cranes in a £1.5 million project supporting preparation for the Royal Fleet Auxiliary's Fleet Solid Support ships. The equipment forms part of a broader £98.5 million modernization of the yard and will help move materials and assemble sections for the three planned support vessels. Installation is a concrete readiness milestone for Belfast's role in the program, but it is enabling infrastructure rather than completion of ship construction; production performance will still depend on workforce, design maturity, supply chains, and the wider consortium schedule.
