Thailand selects Hanwha Ocean to build it a new frigate
Thailand selected South Korea’s Hanwha Ocean as preferred builder for a new Royal Thai Navy frigate. The decision advances a surface-combatant procurement and gives Hanwha an important Southeast Asian export opportunity after its previous work with the Thai fleet. Selection does not equal contract execution, and final price, configuration, local industrial participation and delivery milestones remain subject to detailed negotiation. Until those terms are published, the programme’s effect on fleet numbers and combat capability cannot be quantified beyond the planned addition of a modern frigate.
