Hellenic Navy Picks SCANTER 6002 Radar for Combat-Proven Drone Defense
The Hellenic Navy has selected Terma’s SCANTER 6002 radar for the modernization of its four Hydra-class MEKO 200 HN frigates. Hellenic Aerospace Industry will integrate the radar with its Centaur counter-unmanned-aircraft system and connect it to the ships’ Thales TACTICOS combat-management architecture. Designed to detect, track and classify small, low-observable aerial targets in difficult maritime conditions, the radar should strengthen close-range drone awareness and response, although the announcement covers a modernization selection rather than a complete new shipboard air-defense system or interceptor package for the frigates.
