Did NASA's Administrator Just Tease An SR-71 Blackbird Follow-On X-Plane? (Updated)
NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman displayed a presentation slide showing an SR-71-like silhouette under the heading “Rebuilding our X-plane portfolio,” prompting speculation about a new high-speed demonstrator. He said the agency wants to resume flying higher and faster but declined to identify the aircraft or confirm an active program. The image could therefore represent concept art, an aspiration or an undisclosed project rather than evidence of an SR-71 successor. NASA is already advancing experimental aviation through the X-59 and has proposed faster flight demonstrations, but no Blackbird follow-on has been formally announced.
