Singapore expands maritime presence with future-ready Sentinel OPV
Singapore launched the first of four Sentinel-class offshore patrol vessels at Fassmer’s Berne shipyard in Germany, with deliveries expected from 2028. The 94.85-metre, 2,700-tonne design is intended to replace the navy’s existing Maritime Security and Response Vessels and can exceed 23 knots with a range above 4,000 nautical miles. A crew of about 40 will operate modular mission spaces, manned and uncrewed craft, a stern launch system, and guns including a 76 mm STRALES mount. Launch formally begins outfitting and trials rather than operational service.
