South Korea launches sixth-generation fighter study for tailless stealth jet with variable-cycle engines and internal weapons bay
South Korea's Defense Acquisition Program Administration has invited bids for a 14-month study defining the concept and configuration of a future sixth-generation fighter. The roughly $650,000 effort will examine two options, including a single-seat tailless aircraft with internal weapons carriage, low observability across several radar bands and twin variable-cycle engines for supercruise. The work is intended to shape long-term requirements beyond the KF-21 generation and assess ambitious propulsion and signature-control technologies. It is a preliminary study, not a development contract, and no production decision, programme budget, prototype schedule or service-entry date exists.
