South Korea Advances VTOL UAS Requirement, MH-60R Helo Buy
South Korea is advancing a vertical-take-off-and-landing uncrewed-aircraft requirement while also progressing plans to acquire additional MH-60R Seahawk maritime helicopters. The UAS effort is intended to provide persistent surveillance from constrained land or naval operating sites, while the MH-60R would strengthen anti-submarine warfare, surface search and maritime security. The two activities are separate acquisition tracks rather than a combined platform programme. Public reporting did not fully specify the UAS design, quantities or schedule, and the helicopter procurement remains subject to the final scope of South Korea's approved acquisition process.
