Trump Announces Cleveland As Pick For New Sub Component Repair Center
President Donald Trump announced Cleveland as the selected location for a new US Navy Submarine Component Repair Center during an October 12 rally. The facility is intended to manufacture, repair and maintain submarine components, expanding support beyond work carried out directly in naval shipyards. An August presidential memorandum requested a geographically central site with road, rail and river access and at least one shipset of spare equipment for Los Angeles, Virginia, Seawolf, Ohio and Columbia-class submarines. The location announcement advances that planning process, but no construction contract, facility budget or opening date was disclosed, and it does not establish an operational repair center.
