U.S. and Indonesia test rocket systems in joint drill
United States and Indonesian forces conducted combined live-fire training at Baturaja on September 4 and 7 during Super Garuda Shield 2026. Ground units integrated American M142 HIMARS with Indonesian ASTROS II Mk 6 and RM-70 Vampire launchers, while Indonesian F-16s and both nations’ AH-64 Apaches supported the exercise. Next Generation Command and Control technology helped participants share targeting data and coordinate different equipment and procedures. The drill involved about 4,700 personnel from 21 nations and tested interoperability rather than announcing a new weapons acquisition or contract.
