Taiwan taps US tech for sea drones to fend off China's vast maritime fleet
Taiwan is incorporating U.S. technology into its emerging uncrewed surface-vessel program as it seeks affordable ways to complicate operations by China's much larger maritime force. The effort is focused on autonomous or remotely operated craft that can distribute sensing and strike functions without putting crews at risk, drawing on combat lessons from Ukraine and other recent conflicts. Public reporting leaves the specific systems, suppliers and acquisition schedule unclear, so the initiative is best understood as a developing industrial and operational program rather than an already fielded fleet.
