U.S. approves $750M tank engine sale to Saudi Arabia
The U.S. State Department approved a possible $750 million Foreign Military Sale to Saudi Arabia covering 60 Honeywell AGT-1500 gas-turbine engines for the kingdom's M1 Abrams tank fleet. The proposed package also includes spare parts, technical documentation, training, logistics, and several years of contractor support intended to sustain and modernize existing vehicles rather than purchase additional tanks. The Defense Security Cooperation Agency has notified Congress, but the clearance is not a signed contract; final engine quantity, price, support scope, delivery schedule, and any offset arrangements remain subject to negotiation.
