Thailand advances frigate procurement programme
Thailand has advanced its frigate acquisition programme by moving candidate designs and industrial proposals into a more detailed evaluation phase. The requirement is expected to weigh combat-system performance, anti-submarine capability, local construction, technology transfer, life-cycle support and interoperability rather than selecting solely on initial ship price. No winner or construction contract has been announced, so offered configurations, quantities and schedules remain subject to negotiation and government approval; the current milestone shows procurement activity is continuing while leaving substantial technical and commercial risk to be resolved before award.
