Northrop Grumman's First Plane Of Transport Layer Satellites Set For Monday Launch
Northrop Grumman is preparing to launch the first orbital plane of its Transport Layer satellite constellation, a component of the Space Development Agency's proliferated low-Earth orbit communications network intended to provide resilient military data transport and missile warning links. The Transport Layer is designed to deliver beyond-line-of-sight connectivity to tactical forces and to integrate with Tracking Layer satellites for missile defense. The upcoming launch represents a key production and deployment milestone for the program, which is central to the Pentagon's strategy for resilient space-based communications in contested environments.
