Navy Awards Over $170 Million in Trident II Support Contracts, as Columbia Advances
The US Navy awarded more than $170 million in Trident II D5 support contracts on October 1, covering flight testing, missile operations, rocket-motor storage and related services. The largest individual award, $46.85 million to L3Harris subsidiary Interstate Electronics, funds engineering, logistics, installation, operation, maintenance and modification of Navy-owned flight-test instrumentation. Options could increase that contract to $207.1 million, separately from the aggregate value of the initial awards. The work sustains the submarine-launched ballistic missile enterprise as the Columbia-class submarine program advances, rather than procuring a new batch of Trident missiles.
