Pentagon pays $16.6 million to keep nuke inventory online

The Defense Threat Reduction Agency awarded General Dynamics Information Technology a $16.6 million contract to sustain the systems used to manage and account for the U.S. nuclear weapons inventory. The work supports the digital infrastructure, logistics, tracking, and operational services needed to keep stockpile information available and accurate across the nuclear enterprise. Although the award is small compared with warhead modernization programs, it funds a continuing readiness function: maintaining secure, reliable inventory data and support processes for weapons that must remain controlled, traceable, and operationally accountable at all times.
