New US Army UH-60M Black Hawk order bridges uncertain path to MV-75 transition
The U.S. Army awarded Sikorsky $234 million for 16 additional UH-60M Black Hawks, preserving near-term production while the service develops the Bell MV-75 Cheyenne II. The undefinitized action provides fleet continuity but does not settle the Army's longer-term Black Hawk requirement, which remains affected by funding decisions and the pace of the Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft program. Continuing UH-60M purchases helps sustain assault-aviation capacity, training, and the supplier base during a transition that will take years and may not align neatly with retirement needs across existing units.
