Split of hybrid navy money to be worked out with industry
Britain will invest at least £1.5 billion over four years to begin creating a hybrid Royal Navy, with the allocation among vessel types to be determined with industry. Plans cover autonomous underwater, surface, and airborne systems intended to add mass and persistence around crewed command ships. By 2030, the ministry aims to field the first large autonomous vessels, including a prototype Type 91 missile platform and extra-large Type 93 underwater vehicles carrying AUKUS-developed payloads. The architecture also envisages Type 92 underwater sensors and Type 94 radar platforms, but quantities, unit costs, and the final spending split remain undecided.
