Britain sets out offensive and defensive space operations with £880 million committed to military intelligence and space control
Britain’s UK Space Strategy commits £880 million during fiscal 2026/27–2029/30 to space-based intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance and space-control capabilities. Published on September 8, 2026, the policy envisages both offensive and defensive operations integrating space-domain awareness, command and control, and layered response options to protect British and allied assets. Supporting programmes include the trilateral Deep Space Advanced Radar Capability and BOREALIS sovereign command-and-control data processing, alongside closer coordination of civil surveillance and in-orbit servicing technology with military needs. The strategy targets nationally separable military space capabilities by 2035, enabling sovereign operations while maintaining interoperability with allied surveillance and command systems.
