U.S. Navy's newest destroyer arrives in Alaska
The future USS Ted Stevens (DDG 128), a Flight III Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer, arrived in Whittier, Alaska, on September 27 ahead of its commissioning ceremony scheduled there for October 3, 2026. The visit marks the first U.S. Navy commissioning ceremony in Alaska since 2013. The ship will not be permanently based in Alaska: its homeport is Naval Station Norfolk, Virginia, and the Navy has not announced its first operational deployment.
