U.S. Air Force to begin Boeing 737 Max 8 purchases under planned $250 million deal to expand transport and logistics capacity
The US Air Force is preparing to purchase its first Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft under a transport initiative carrying roughly $250 million in planned funding. The acquisition would introduce the MAX generation into military service and provide a basis for government transport, logistics, or special-mission adaptation. Exact aircraft numbers, configuration, and militarization requirements have not been publicly finalized. Using a commercial platform can reduce development and sustainment costs through an established supply chain, although certification, secure communications, defensive equipment, and mission-specific modifications will determine the program's actual schedule and expense.
