Debrief: U.S. Air Force Hopes For Deployment 'Reset' Following Iran Conflict
US Air Force leaders are seeking a deployment reset after the conflict with Iran placed demands on the force beyond its sustainable generation model. Chief of Staff General Kenneth Wilsbach said some units remained deployed for more than six months and returned with less than 18 months of recovery time, disrupting the service’s Air Expeditionary Wing 2.0 cycle. The Vermont Air National Guard’s F-35A deployment exceeded nine months, illustrating the strain. The service intends to restore predictable rotations, readiness and dwell periods, although continued operations could delay a full return to the planned force-generation schedule.
