U.S. completes first W76 Mk4B reentry body nearly three months early, strengthening submarine nuclear deterrent reliability
The United States has completed production of the first W76 Mk4B reentry body, finishing nearly three months ahead of schedule. The Mk4B modernises the W76 warhead carried by Trident II D5 missiles aboard Ohio-class SSBNs. Early completion signals improved manufacturing efficiency within the U.S. nuclear weapons complex. The milestone directly enhances the reliability and credibility of the sea-based leg of the nuclear triad.
