Airbus Tests Quantum Key Distribution With Military and Police in Malta

Airbus Defence and Space demonstrated a tactical communications network combining post-quantum cryptography and quantum key distribution during a self-funded Malta trial on September 10-11. Announced on October 5, the event connected military and law enforcement users across different operational networks using a hybrid quantum-security architecture. The trial integrated Stormshield network encryptors, Telsy quantum-key technology supplied through Quantum Telecommunications Italy, and Merqury key management over Melita's telecommunications infrastructure. It addressed protection against intercepted traffic being stored for future quantum decryption, while accreditation status and any operational procurement or deployment commitment remain undisclosed.
