Indra Snaps Up Synthetic Aperture Radar Specialist Dares Technology

Indra acquired all shares of Dares Technology, a Barcelona company specializing in compact synthetic-aperture radar payloads and radar-processing software. Founded in 2015 through the European Space Agency’s business-incubation programme, Dares employs 27 specialists and develops sensors suited to small airborne platforms. Indra plans to integrate and adapt the technology for its Tarsis family of unmanned aircraft, including systems below 150 kg. The purchase adds an in-house all-weather imaging capability, although the acquisition price, revenue contribution, and future delivery timeline for integrated products were not disclosed.

Estonia says Russian special services commissioned arson at Milrem Robotics site in Tallinn, with three suspects in custody

Estonian authorities say Russian security services commissioned an August 15 arson attack at Milrem Robotics' Tallinn site, a company that supplies THeMIS unmanned ground vehicles to Ukraine. The fire was contained without loss of life, and three Latvian suspects arrested two days later were extradited to Estonia in September and remain in custody. The attribution comes from Estonia's official investigation; criminal proceedings are continuing, and the allegation should not be presented as a completed court finding. The case also illustrates European concern that Russian hybrid operations are targeting companies supporting Ukrainian defense.

Rubio Says Incident at UK Air Base RAF Fairford 'Clearly Involved' a Foreign Actor

Secretary of State Marco Rubio said a security incident involving RAF Fairford, the British base used by US bombers for operations toward Iran, clearly involved a foreign actor and was very serious. British authorities investigated vehicles near the installation but found no explosive devices, leaving important facts about the suspected activity, intended target, and responsible state undisclosed. Rubio's statement establishes a senior US assessment of foreign involvement, not a public evidentiary attribution to a named government or confirmation that an attack occurred. The lack of disclosed evidence makes careful separation between official assessment, investigative fact, and press speculation especially important.

Hegseth orders cyber, intelligence agencies to prioritize election defense

A September 22 memorandum from Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth directed US Cyber Command and the defense intelligence enterprise to prioritize foreign threats to the 2026 elections. The order tasks NSA, DIA, NGA, and other organizations with collection and analysis, tells Cyber Command to counter foreign cyberattacks under existing authorities, and requires coordination with the Department of Homeland Security. It calls election defense a no-fail mission but names no particular adversary, provides no new appropriation, and sets no public implementation deadline. The memo also requires compliance with law and policy, an important constraint when military intelligence supports domestic election security.

Türkiye launches defense-focused AI platform EVREN

Türkiye’s defense procurement authority has launched EVREN, a sovereign artificial-intelligence platform designed to support the full machine-learning lifecycle for defense projects. The system provides tools for data preparation, labeling, model training, testing, deployment and operational use, with sensitive data processed on graphics-processor infrastructure located inside Türkiye. EVREN is intended for defense companies, startups, academics and students through controlled access, reducing dependence on foreign cloud platforms while giving national developers a shared environment for building and evaluating mission-oriented AI applications across the national ecosystem at scale.

Russia hits Ukraine's largest mobile provider, strikes data centreshttps

Russian strikes hit Kyivstar’s headquarters in Kyiv and data-center infrastructure during a broader campaign against Ukraine’s telecommunications network. Kyivstar reported no casualties at its headquarters, while Russia’s Defense Ministry separately claimed an attack on a Vodafone Ukraine data center; Vodafone did not immediately confirm that account. President Volodymyr Zelensky said repeated strikes on another data center wounded two children and an adult, following earlier attacks that disrupted internet service to about 100,000 households in Kyiv and the surrounding region during the latest wave of attacks.

BAE launches compact Shadow EW systems for small aircraft

BAE Systems has introduced the Shadow family of compact electronic-warfare systems for small crewed and uncrewed aircraft. The low-size, weight and power architecture is software-defined and field-upgradeable, allowing modules to support situational awareness, targeting, deception, survivability and collaborative effects as mission needs change. BAE says the designs use commercial microelectronics and open interfaces to accelerate upgrades and integration across different platforms. Production is planned in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, while software and system design work will be performed in Nashua, New Hampshire; no launch customer or contract value was announced.

All operational British Rivet Joint spy planes near Russia

Both operational Royal Air Force RC-135W Rivet Joint aircraft flew intelligence sorties near Russia on September 25, one over the Baltic region near Kaliningrad and the other around the Black Sea. Public tracking showed ZZ664 and ZZ666 operating from RAF Waddington without entering Russian airspace. The aircraft collect, locate and analyse communications and radar emissions to support situational awareness and electronic intelligence. Britain owns three Rivet Joints, but the third was unavailable while undergoing maintenance or modification in the United States, making the simultaneous missions the full deployable fleet at that time.
