Leonardo DRS wins $500M slot to supply counter-drone radar
Leonardo DRS secured a position on a three-year counter-drone contract with a $500 million ceiling from Joint Interagency Task Force 401. The indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity vehicle makes the company eligible to compete for task orders supplying integrated tactical radar sensing for force protection and low-altitude air defense. Its RADA radar family supports detection and tracking of small drones as well as counter-rocket, artillery and mortar missions, with related sensors already used on Stryker-based short-range air-defense vehicles. Announced on October 14, the award establishes an ordering mechanism, but DRS disclosed no initial task order, obligated funding or radar procurement quantity.
