Lockheed Martin, IBM to bring first Quantum System Two to Switzerland in defense-backed push for navigation, AI and advanced manufacturing

Lockheed Martin and IBM will install Switzerland's first IBM Quantum System Two at the Swiss National Supercomputing Centre in Lugano under an armasuisse offset arrangement. IBM will operate the system, equipped with a Nighthawk processor, and plans to make it available to Swiss universities, companies and start-ups by the end of 2026. Initial joint projects will examine quantum sensing for navigation and the design of metallic alloys for additive manufacturing, alongside hybrid quantum-classical computing research.
