NATO tests British counter-drone system in Baltic exercise
NATO personnel tested the British-built BlackTalon Ecosystem counter-drone system during Baltic Trust 26, held in Riga, Latvia, from 3 to 14 August. The equipment was one of four technologies evaluated and was used to detect and track small aircraft in difficult terrain, including dense pine forest, while exchanging information within allied command networks. On the exercise’s final day, a NATO fighter destroyed a drone after Russian jamming reportedly pushed it off course, underlining the operational challenge posed by congested and contested electromagnetic conditions. The event also examined interoperability among multinational units and sensors.
