U.S. Army tests robotic machine gun against drones

Allen Control Systems demonstrated its autonomous Bullfrog counter-drone weapon during Falcon Peak 26.2 at the Cibola Range within Yuma Proving Ground on September 9. Mounted on a pickup truck, the robotic turret used computer vision and automated fire control to detect, track, and engage drone targets with a standard M240 machine gun. The exercise was led by NORAD and US Northern Command to examine affordable, low-collateral responses to small unmanned aircraft. Bullfrog has already been fielded by the Army and Navy, while the company reported a 100% engagement rate at the 2026 Technology Readiness Experimentation event.
