U.S. Navy selects L3Harris VAMPIRE counter-drone weapons to strengthen littoral defences against unmanned attacks at sea

The United States Navy selected L3Harris to supply VAMPIRE counter-drone systems for littoral defense against uncrewed aircraft and other low-cost aerial threats. VAMPIRE is a modular, vehicle- or platform-mounted system that combines electro-optical sensing with launchers for laser-guided rockets. Its adaptable architecture allows deployment without a purpose-built air-defense vehicle, an advantage for dispersed coastal and maritime units. The selection extends a system already used in land-based counter-drone missions into the Navy’s near-shore operating environment, although quantities, contract value and delivery timing were not publicly disclosed.
