U.S. targets 80% F-35 mission-capable rate by 2030 as parts shortages and depot constraints weigh on global fleet readiness

The F-35 programme aims to reach an 80% mission-capable rate and a 65% fully mission-capable rate across its global fleet by fiscal 2030. A new Global Support Solution is intended to improve demand forecasting, resize the shared spares pool, expand government depot capacity and reduce repair backlogs affecting more than 1,200 aircraft in 20 countries. Long-term US operating and support costs are now projected at $596.4 billion in constant 2012 dollars through 2083. Achieving the target depends on whether parts supply, engine repairs and depot throughput can keep pace with continuing fleet growth.
