US Air Force seeks air-defense guns to protect overseas bases

The United States Air Force issued a request for information for a portable Ground-Based, Medium-Caliber Gun Weapon System to protect overseas bases. The concept prioritizes affordable ammunition against subsonic cruise missiles and uncrewed aircraft from small Group 1 drones through large Group 5 systems. Requirements include organic sensors, integration with wider command networks, sufficient magazine capacity and the ability to counter saturation attacks from an austere, transportable footprint.
