Drones Have Redefined Combat. Can Industry Help Soldiers Hold Ground?
Small drones increasingly force soldiers to disperse or seek cover, which can disrupt units even when no strike occurs. The article argues that industry should develop personal protection tailored to drone fragments, including specialized goggles and outerwear. It also highlights body-worn warning sensors, portable anti-drone sidearms and improved camouflage as ways to detect, survive and defeat nearby unmanned threats. Together, these measures are intended to help individual troops retain freedom of action and hold ground.
