Indonesia commissions ex-Italian Navy aircraft carrier
Indonesia has formally commissioned the former Italian Navy aircraft carrier Giuseppe Garibaldi as KRI Sriwijaya. The vessel, decommissioned by Italy in 2024, is the largest aviation-capable platform ever acquired by Indonesia. Indonesian officials say it will primarily support helicopter and unmanned aviation operations, with an emphasis on humanitarian assistance, disaster relief and other military operations other than war, while contributing to the modernization of the country's naval force structure.
