Russia's S-71 Air-Launched Drones Make International Show Debut
Russia presented the S-71K Kovyor and S-71M Monokhrom air-launched standoff weapons internationally at Egypt’s El Alamein airshow. Current authoritative reporting identifies the S-71M as the simpler turbojet-powered design, built around an OFAB-250-270 fragmentation bomb and relying mainly on inertial guidance. The S-71K appears to be the more refined, lower-observable version and has been associated with electro-optical guidance and greater onboard processing. Both designs have been linked to the Su-57, but Russia disclosed no export customer, production quantity or contract, and their advertised performance remains only partly verified.
