AUSA 2026: US Army buys more air-to-air C-UAS interceptors

The US Army has ordered another 385 FD-1 counter-drone interceptors from Mountain Horse Solutions through the Global Tactical Edge Acquisition Directorate, following an earlier 300-aircraft contract. Announced on October 12, 2026, the order covers quadcopters designed for air-to-air engagements and attacks on ground targets, with remaining deliveries scheduled by November. Following an assessment of the first 40 aircraft, the company introduced 13 hardware improvements, including thermal cameras and increased endurance and range. Company specifications list speeds above 165 mph and range beyond 20 kilometres, while a forthcoming 10th Mountain Division assessment will focus more closely on ground-strike employment.
