BAE Systems Rolls Out New Autonomous AMPV, Plans For Initial Demo In February

BAE Systems unveiled an autonomous Armored Multi-Purpose Vehicle at AUSA on October 12, 2026, with an initial demonstration planned for February 2027. The company has integrated Forterra's autonomy software and RENK America's drive-by-wire technology into the tracked platform, although full autonomous operation remains under development. The partners have invested around $8 million and are refining controls for tracked-vehicle manoeuvres, including the power application needed for turning and pivoting. BAE intends to provide the demonstrator to an Army unit for soldier feedback and is examining a retrofit-kit approach that could support autonomous resupply or movement on selected vehicles.
