Fincantieri delivers fifth PPA patrol vessel to Italian Navy

Fincantieri and OCCAR delivered ITS Domenico Millelire, the fifth of seven planned Pattugliatore Polivalente d'Altura vessels, to the Italian Navy at Muggiano on September 24. Millelire is the second ship in the Full configuration, equipped for higher-end combat tasks with dual-band radar, surface-to-air missiles, 127 mm and 76 mm guns, electronic warfare and sonar. The handover advances renewal of Italy's surface fleet while preserving the class's defining flexibility: a common hull can perform patrol, humanitarian and combat missions through different sensor and weapon fits. Two additional ships are still required to complete the program.
