Michigan firm to build 4,000 attack drones for U.S. troops

Swarm Defense Technologies has received an order for 4,000 Kiwi one-way attack quadcopters for U.S. forces under the Drone Dominance Program. The Auburn Hills, Michigan, company said the package is worth at least $25 million including munitions, implying a minimum average of about $6,250 per complete system. Production is planned at a 40,000-square-foot facility, but delivery dates and receiving units were not identified. The company's Strike Deck software is intended to let one operator manage many drones with automated navigation, relays and collision avoidance, while retaining human authority over target selection and attack.
