U.S. Marine Corps extends F-35B combat reach across 4,000 nautical miles with KC-130J forward logistics model in Indo-Pacific

The US Marine Corps has demonstrated the ability to extend F-35B combat reach across 4,000 nautical miles using a KC-130J-supported forward logistics and rearming model in the Indo-Pacific, according to Defence Industry Europe. The concept relies on distributed basing and the KC-130J's combined tanking and cargo capabilities to rearm, refuel and reposition F-35Bs at austere locations well beyond established main operating bases. The demonstration validates a key element of the Marine Corps' Expeditionary Advanced Base Operations concept designed for operations in contested archipelagic environments.
