U.S. Navy buys first HFORCE backup radios that skip satellites
The US Navy ordered the first production HFORCE high-frequency radios, creating a long-range communications option that does not depend on satellites. High-frequency signals can travel beyond line of sight through atmospheric propagation, providing a valuable backup when satellite links are jammed, disrupted, or unavailable. The radios are intended to strengthen resilient command and control across widely separated naval forces. Initial production is an important transition from development, but operational effectiveness will depend on antenna integration, spectrum management, operator training, data rates, and compatibility with the Navy's broader communications architecture.
