AeroVironment receives first international order for LOCUST counter-drone laser systems and support, valued at more than $50 million
AeroVironment has secured the first international purchase of its LOCUST counter-uncrewed-aircraft laser, with systems and support valued above $50 million. LOCUST uses directed energy to defeat small drones while reducing dependence on comparatively expensive interceptor missiles, giving operators a reusable option for sustained base and force protection. The customer, unit count, delivery schedule and precise support package remain undisclosed, but the export award broadens the system's market beyond US users and provides a significant reference customer for future overseas counter-drone competitions in the expanding counter-UAS market.
