Kongsberg expanded Canadian defence and space partnerships with MDA Space and Telesat. The collaboration strengthens Arctic security and connectivity. It links satellite communications and surveillance assets. The move supports northern domain awareness.
ATCO Frontec delivered a temporary Arctic base for 350 Canadian troops in an accelerated three-week deployment. The facility supports northern operations and readiness. It demonstrates rapid expeditionary basing capability. The effort reinforces Canada's Arctic presence.
President Trump has confirmed a U.S.-Denmark-Greenland agreement on the island's security. The pact addresses growing Arctic strategic competition and access to key basing. Enhanced U.S. presence supports missile-warning and northern approaches defense. The deal formalizes cooperation amid rising great-power activity in the region.
NORAD deployed US F-16s from Alaska through Canada toward Greenland during Operation Arctic Vanguard 26-4.2, testing rapid movement and air defence across the northern approaches. The fighters operated through Goose Bay alongside Canadian and other allied elements, exercising command relationships, refuelling, sustainment, and dispersed basing. Arctic distances, weather, communications, and limited infrastructure make such deployments unusually demanding. The exercise demonstrated how North American and NATO forces could reinforce the region quickly, but it was a readiness activity rather than evidence of a permanent fighter presence in Greenland.
Danish F-35s landed in Greenland for the first time during NATO's Arctic Sentry activity, operating from Kangerlussuaq after staging through Keflavik. Two aircraft trained with US F-16s and Canadian CF-18s, supported by French tanker refuelling, NATO airborne warning, and Danish search-and-rescue assets. The deployment tested northern basing, multinational command and control, and fighter sustainment in a demanding environment. It also demonstrated NATO's ability to reinforce Greenland quickly, while remaining a temporary exercise rather than the establishment of a permanent Danish fighter detachment or routine Arctic basing.
US Northern Command deployed Wisconsin Air National Guard F-35As to Pituffik Space Base during Operation Arctic Vanguard. The aircraft practiced launch, recovery, maintenance, and sustainment from an austere Greenland location while coordinating with the base's fixed early-warning radar. Operating fifth-generation fighters in the High North tests the logistics and communications needed to respond across vast distances under severe weather conditions. The event places stealth aircraft within a broader sensor and command network, but it represents a readiness demonstration rather than a permanent basing decision or long-term posture change.
